About Us

Our Story

Research Circle was founded by Shawna D’Antimo and Dr. Jason Bruce—two researchers and facilitators committed to advancing Indigenous sovereignty through community-driven inquiry and ethical practice. After years of work across Nations, universities, and grassroots organizations, they recognized the need for research processes that reflect Indigenous worldviews and center lived experience—not just institutional expectations. Research Circle emerged from this vision: a place where communities, researchers, and organizations come together to co-create knowledge that is relational, rigorous, and rooted in care. Every project reflects this founding commitment—to walk with our partners, uphold their priorities, and support meaningful, long-term impact.

Our Approach

We lead with relationship, accountability, and respect. At Research Circle, we don’t arrive with answers—we begin by listening. Our work is grounded in cultural protocols, relational ethics, and wholistic methods shaped in partnership with Indigenous Nations and organizations. Whether supporting research design, evaluation, data governance, or capacity-building, we prioritize process as much as outcome. We honour Indigenous Knowledge systems, listen to community, and adapt to the needs of each context.

Our Values

Research Circle is guided by values that reflect our responsibility to the communities, Nations, and organizations we work alongside. We hold relational integrity at the center of everything we do—building trust through transparency, accountability, and ongoing care. Our work is grounded in wholistic practice, honouring the interconnectedness of knowledge, spirit, land, and community. We are committed to self-determination, supporting Indigenous partners in leading their own research and defining how their knowledge is protected and used. We approach each relationship with humility and reciprocity, recognizing that every project is a shared process of learning and reflection. And above all, we believe in action with purpose—ensuring that every outcome is meaningful, community-serving, and designed to last.
